Twitter provides an easy way to support your online presence while helping you see what’s happening in the blogosphere and in your market.

This post explores a number of tools and technique to help enhance your Twitter experience.

TweetGrid

TweetGrid lets you select 6 topic keywords, and then searches all tweets containing those keywords. This is a great way to meet Twitter users with similar interests for networking, collaborating or gaining information on a particular topic.

TweetGrid allows you to read about current events and topics you may already be familiar with in a foreign language. For me this is one of its coolest features.

For instance, I just downloaded a Tweeter guide in French. This is an excellent way for me to familiarize myself with real life French terms and phrases that I probably won’t find in a regular French text book.

GPS for Travelers

GeoTweeter adds GPS coordinates to your tweets while GPSed lets you share maps of your travels, GPS tracks and geotagged photos with friends via e-mail, IM or by posting them to social networks like Facebook, MySpace. Twitter and Blogger.com.

Get a Custom Background

To set yourself apart and create a professional presence on Twitter you should have your own unique background.

Twitbacks lets you create a free custom background for my Twitter account.

#FollowFriday

On Fridays is is customary to recommend some good Twitter users for others to follow.

To do this, list the Twitter usernames with the keyword “followfriday” preceded by a # sign. (This is called a hashtag).

For example,
#followfriday @artofbackpackin @globetrotteri @soultravelers3 @earthXplorer @offtrackplanet.com some cool travel blogs to follow.

Note: In case you’re wondering, I do have a Twitter account for my other blog and I’m now facing a decision: Do I use one account for my two separate blogs or do I create a separate Twitter account for this blog? I’ve seen solid arguments to support each option and I’m still undecided although I am leaning towards having two separate accounts. Stay tuned…

In my previous post I wrote a review on Crush it!, an inspiring book about online marketing trailblazer Gary Vaynerchuck, who grew his family’s business from $4 million to $50 million using social media. The picture below says it all:

We are truly living in exponential times and the following video shows Social Media has transformed our lives and the way we do business. I found this video to be provocative and entertaining. As a bonus, the music on the video is awesome.

If for some reason you can’t play the video, this is the link to it: Social Media Revolution

All the source data found in the video can be found at www.socialnomics.net.

Update: Just found a great slide show on Social Media with more thought provoking ideas on Social Media.
