On my recent visit to San Jose, CA I had a chance to visit the Googleplex in Mountain View, CA  which resembles a college campus.

At Google there are many areas for walking or taking a break. Colorful bicycles and scooters are available for getting around the complex.

There’s even an organic garden and some of the produce is used in the employee cafeteria.

This was the part of the tour I enjoyed most. For dessert, I chose a second serving of Curry and Portabella mushrooms with figs and pistachio nuts and persimmon salad (not shown on the picture).

Employees at Google have a choice of Pizza, Sushi, Indian, Lebanese, Chinese, an American food. (I’m sure I left something out). In addition, there’s an awesome salad bar,  a dessert bar, plenty of ice cream and drinks, all free to employees.

A game of soccer in the afternoon is a great way to avoid the “2:00PM shutdown”. Google employees also have access to a volleyball area and two swimming pools.

Currently Google ranks #4 on America’s 100 Best Companies to Work For. Makes me wonder about #1, NetApp in nearby Sunnyvale.

Hey Liz, that sounds like a really cool thing to do. People normally only know Google from the Internet , but to actually walk around campus would feel ‘unreal’ to me :) and then to know someone who did … awesome! Thanks for sharing.
