David Siteman from Rise to the Top conducts a lively interview with Seth Godin where the marketing guru challenges us with several killer (and uncomfortable) ideas:
If you’re going to be a freelancer you have to be EXTRAORDINARY
The market for freelancers that are average is horrible
The market for exceptional freelancers has never been better
Work is the Stuff that Scares You
Work is the Stuff that Scarce
Work is the stuff that you ultimately may get paid for but that in the short run, you may want to avoid (‘cause it’s hard).
Hint: If it scares you that’s the signal that you should do it

Good points! And indeed scary. Now I understand why it’s a good signal.
I liked Seth’s example of flight attendants because I experienced the difference on my latest trip to South America. Those attendants actually made me feel “welcome aboard” vs being one of many.
People go through the motions of work so much that it’s easy to forget to connect to others.
I’m glad I always refused to be a little bolt in a big machine which is why I never stayed with a company just for their “benefits.”
Thanks for the great resources, you do know how to find them!
