About us
A community-focused organisation with writing at its core
Here at The Word Corner, we embrace writing as both an art form and a tool for wellbeing.
We honour the transformative process of putting thoughts or emotions into words and we offer a space where writers can showcase their craft and readers can connect with that craft.
We therefore also explore writing - how writing exists in communities, events, resources, recommendations, reviews.
Whether you are a writer, reader, part of community development, wellbeing, an educator, parent or carer, The Word Corner explores and celebrates writing and we invite you into this space to explore with us.
Community Development Work
We also believe writing is a portal for community development and wellbeing, forming the basis of healthy communities, so we:
Facilitate writing and reading clubs for kids
Facilitate writing for wellbeing workshops for adults
Facilitate wellbeing coaching and neuroeducation using writing as a specific modality
Partner with community organisations to write and feature their stories
Using a social enterprise model (based on our founder’s 2011 PhD on social enterprise), a portion of proceeds from The Word Corner sales helps to ensure these community development activities can be offered on a voluntary or low-cost basis.
If you are a community organisation, school/education facility, or non-profit we’d love to connect and talk about collaboration opportunities.
Self-Publication Guidance
In addition to our community development work, we also offer step-by-step direct guidance in a customisable self-publishing pathway where writers can select from a menu of services to support their self-publication journey. Whether you’re crafting a novel, telling a personal story, or seeking feedback or mentorship, you'll find a supportive environment that nurtures both the craft and the creator.
If you’re an emerging writer looking to understand the self-publication process, improve your writing craft, or better understand why mindset, identity or nervous system states may be blocking your writing, please get in touch. No prior professional experience in writing and/or publishing is required.
